Daniel Craig as Werner Heisenberg Stephen Rea as Neils Bohr
In 1941 Werner Heisenberg traveled from Germany to Nazi-occupied
Denmark to see his old friend and mentor, Neils Bohr, the godfather
of quantum physics. Werner's motives for the visit are still the object
of much speculation, hence this televised drama based on the stage play.
His former protege's efforts to develop a nuclear bomb for
Nazi
Germany angered Bohr, but even he noted the irony that Werner's efforts
hadn't harmed anyone, while Bohr himself assisted the production at Los
Alamos for two years.
You'd
think a meeting between two physicists discussing nuclear physics would
inadvertently discover a cure for insomnia, but it's surprisingly
good and accessible, and poses more questions than it answers.
